Comedy Anime You Must Watch

According to Hummingbird’s profile statistics, my most watched genre of anime is Comedy. It seems I watch a lot of comedy anime and I didn’t even realize that. That being said, I’ve decided to share a few of comedy anime series that I’ve enjoyed the most and could consider being my favorites in this specific genre of anime.

Note: Anime descriptions may contain certain plot spoilers so read them at your own discretion.

Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai! series

Chuunibyou Koi ga Shitai!

This has to be one of my favorite comedy anime series. Story follows a girl named Takanashi Rikka who suffers from eight grader syndrome which makes her believe that she’s a sorceress who possesses the power of a Tyrant’s Eye. Anime mostly focuses on the weird, but really sweet relationship between her and Togashi Yuuta who in the past has also suffered from eight grader syndrome.

Kore wa Zombie Desu ka? series

Kore wa Zombie Desu ka?

Follows the daily life of a zombie named Aikawa Ayumu who just so happens to be a Magiclad Girl (pretty much a Magical Girl) as well due to some unforeseen events early in the anime. It’s an episodic anime that follows the Power Rangers structure – bad guy attacks, Ayumu is beaten to a pulp, summons the power to transform and beats the bad guy to save the day. It’s definitely worth a watch if you’re a fan of parodies and like repeatable jokes.

To Love-Ru series

To Love-Ru

I’ve included this series on my list of ecchi anime suggestions, but despite its ecchi nature the comedy is great and will definitely make you laugh. The story follows Yuuki Rito and his daily life with Deviluke Lala who suddenly entered his life and turned it upside down. Anime mostly focuses on Rito and the funny unwanted things that happen to him on a daily basis which are most of the time caused by none other than Lala.

K-On! series

It’s a so-called moe show where we follow the daily life of four (later five) girls who become friends and revive the music club at their high school. The charm of the anime is mostly in the conversations that the girls hold and their funny interactions with one another. I think that the show really picks up after Nakano Azusa (Azu-nyan) joins the club in the second season (K-On!!).

Tonari no Seki-kun

Tonari no Seki-kun

Anime follows a girl named Yokoi who sits next to Seki and observes him as he’s passing his time playing various games during the classes. Yukoi of course gets sucked in these various games as she watches him, sometimes even interfering. The episodes are really short, but really sweet and this anime is perfect for a marathon or passing some time while you’re waiting for something/someone.

I suggest watching these if you haven’t had the pleasure of doing so as of yet. Which are your favorite comedy anime?

My real name is Andraž, but online most people call me KAMI. While I have a passion for tech and games; anime is my true love. In my free time, I like to watch anime and write about things that interest me.
