Dramatic Anime Series Everyone Should Check Out

Tomoya Crying

I’m not a big fan of dramatic stories, because I always end up in tears no matter how much I try to suppress them. Despite this fact, I’ve watched my share of dramatic anime series and the ones listed below are my personal favorites and I hope you guys will enjoy them as much as I did.

Gosick

Gosick

Series strongly focuses on how Kazuya Kujo met Victorique de Blois and observed/helped her solve a variety of mysterious crimes. Nearing the second half of the anime, it changes its focus from solving crimes to relationship between Kazuya and Victorique and power struggle between two of the factions in the kingdom.

Koi to Senkyo to Chocolate (Koichoco)

Koi to Senkyo to Chocolate

Koichoco follows Yuuki Oojima and his run for student council president at his school to save the Food Research Club which he’s a member of. Story focuses a lot on the relationship between Yuuki and Chisato Sumiyoshi (his childhood friend) and their past.

Black★Rock Shooter

Black Rock Shooter

The anime follows the relationship between two girls, Kuroi Mato and Takanashi Yomi. At the same time, the anime shows another world where Black Rock Shooter is fighting various enemies. It’s really hard to explain how everything works without spoiling the entire plot so I suggest that you simply watch it and experience it for yourselves.

Clannad

Clannad

Clannad follows the life of Okazaki Tomoya, how he meets the love of his life, Furukawa Nagisa and their struggles in high school life. If you have already watched the anime, I suggest checking out the visual novel as well.

Clannad: After Story

Clannad: After Story

Story picks up right where Clannad left us. Tomoya and Nagisa are now a happy couple who are expecting a child. However, things turn sour and we get to see them go through even more hardships than before to get to their deserved happy ending.

Angel Beats!

Angel Beats! Girls

The story of Angel Beats! takes place primarily at a high school complex set in the afterlife, with a majority of the population consisting of high school students. Here, they learn to give up any lingering attachments they still have from life before finally going to their next life.

Watch on Crunchyroll

Among all of listed anime, Clannad: After Story is my favorite despite being the most depressing of them all. Which dramatic anime series are your favorites?

My real name is Andraž, but online most people call me KAMI. While I have a passion for tech and games; anime is my true love. In my free time, I like to watch anime and write about things that interest me.
