Romance Anime You Should Watch

Nisekoi

Although it’s hard to admit to my “manly” self, Romance is one of my favorite genres when it comes to anime. Maybe it’s because the stories are more varied and interesting when compared to the movies you see on TV or in the theaters, who knows. I’m going to share with you guys, five of my favorite anime that focus on romantic relationships or are simply in the Romance genre.

Note: The anime descriptions might contain plot spoilers so read them at your own discretion.

Amagami SS series

Amagami SS

My favorite of the bunch. Amagami SS tells the story of Tachibana Junichi who was stood-up on Christmas Eve and since then has been very reluctant to fall in love with anyone. The anime doesn’t follow your standard romance/harem anime style of boy meets girls, picks one of ‘em and it rather gives us the individual story of each heroine. There’s no drama or plot twists which makes this for a really nice watch , since it lets your brain relax and not worry about an overly complicated plot.

Clannad series

Clannad: After Story

You all knew this was going to be featured, since I have a habit of featuring it in most of my recommendation articles due to its awesomeness. Clannad series tell the story of Okazaki Tomoya and Furukawa Nagisa and what kind of hardships they had to go through in order to get their well deserved happy end. If you haven’t watched Clannad series yet, do it and if you already have, do it again!

Nisekoi

Ichijo Raku has as a child promised his childhood sweetheart to marry her once they meet once again, keeping a pendant as a memento while his love took the key. Years later, he still remembers the promise and is still waiting for that girl to appear, but sadly he forgot how she looked and what her name was. Despite being a rather cliché turnout, this anime is really fun to watch, since the story of the past slowly uncovers itself and reveals more than Raku even remembers.

Zero no Tsukaima series

Zero no Tsukaima

Follows the story of Hiraga Saito, how he became a familiar of Louise Françoise Le Blanc de La Vallière (also known as “Zero Louise”) who is a witch. Anime strongly focuses on Saito and his relationship with Louise and the rest of the girls that just so happen to fall in love with him. It’s your rather standard harem series spiced with great humor and a good, heartwarming ending.

Toradora!

Toradora!

It’s a new school year and Takasu Ryuuji discovers that he will be spending this year in the same class as his crush, Kushieda Minori. Soon he discovers that Minori’s best friend, Aisaka Taiga has a crush on his best friend, Kitamura Yuusaku and they decide they will be supporting each other in order to get what their hearts want. The anime focuses on several different relationships which is a nice change, but of course it mostly focuses on the relationship between Ryuuji and Taiga and their attempts to win their crush’s hearts.

Watch on Crunchyroll

I hope that you will consider checking out at least one from the mentioned anime series, because they’re all worth watching through, especially if you’re a fan of romantic anime. Which are some of your favorites in the Romance anime genre?

My real name is Andraž, but online most people call me KAMI. While I have a passion for tech and games; anime is my true love. In my free time, I like to watch anime and write about things that interest me.
