10 Best Anime Series of 2014

No Game No Life

Year 2014 has been pretty good to us anime otakus around the world. We got to see and experience bunch of new worlds and got to continue our journeys in several existing ones. The year is coming to an end so I thought it’d be a good idea to showcase some of the best anime series of 2014.

Note: I’m only listing anime that I have watched so I’m sorry if I didn’t include your favorites.

Hitsugi no Chaika Series

Trabant Chaika

We received both seasons of this fantasy anime in 2014 which really surprised me, since I thought that it’ll take at least a year before we get to resume our journey with Chaika and her bodyguards(?). It was a nice surprise and a really cool Christmas/end-of-the-year gift from studio Bones.

Fate/Stay Night Unlimited Blade Works

Fate/Stay Night Unlimited Blade Works

I think that we can all agree that despite of its mouth-full of a title, Fate/Stay Night Unlimited Blade Works was one of the best anime of 2014 if not even one of the best anime of all time. I don’t really what I can say about it, it has great music, outstanding animation and one of the best stories that anime has to offer.

Hanamonogatari

Hanamonogatari

It was a well done as the rest of the anime in the Monogatari series and it finally provided us with the end of Kanbaru and the monkey’s paw ark. It was short (5 episodes), but it made up for that with being good and like I said, giving us conclusion that we were waiting for for a few of years.

Soul Eater NOT!

Soul Eater NOT!

Despite not being my favorite anime, I cannot deny that it was a solid addition to the Soul Eater universe. It gave us a bit more backstory as to why we don’t see every Meister and Weapon fighting as well as some more information on the events that were happening during the main series.

No Game No Life

No Game No Life

This one was definitely something new. We follow the adventures of two siblings, Sora and Shiro who are avid gamers and get transported into a world called Disboard by Tet (the true God of Disboard) where every dispute is solved by playing a game (any kind of game).

Isshuukan Friends

Isshuukan Friends

A very touching story that once more showed us that friendship/love can conquer anything no matter what it is. Interesting characters and very interesting story that will leave you wanting for more.

Mangaka-san to Assistant-san to The Animation

Aito Yuuki

If you’re a fan of ecchi comedy, then The Comic Artist and His Assistants was the best of its kind in 2014, heck it’s probably one of the best ecchi comedies anime has to offer. Even though each episode consisting of a few shorts, it was the best comedy experience I got in 2014.

Nisekoi

Nisekoi

A pretty standard harem anime with little to no surprises. However, despite that it’s a very enjoyable experience for those of us who like romance anime. I can hardly wait for its continuation, hopefully the second season comes soon!

Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai Ren

Chuunibyou Demo Koi ga Shitai Ren

In the second season we get to experience a sweet and weird love between Rika and Yuuta. It was a decent experience, even though it had a lot more depressing moments than its first season which it was to be expected considering that there was a love triangle going on.

Tonari no Seki-kun

Seki

A comedy short that showed us how we could slack off in school if we would just use our imagination. Definitely worth a watch, especially since the episodes are very short (8 minutes) which means that you can even watch during your break(s) at work or school.
